DECKER SEEKS 5TH TERM PDF Print E-mail
Cambridge City Councilor Marjorie Decker announced to a crowd of 100 supporters that she is running for a 5th term to the Cambridge City Council. Decker, a native Cambridgian, and recent graduate of Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, grew up in Woodrow Wilson Court, public housing located in Cambridgeport.  Her family still resides in Cambridge.

Decker highlighted her continued support for affordable housing, opportunities for Cambridge youth, and ensuring that Cambridge is a healthy community for people to live and work. Decker was joined by State Representative Alice Wolf, a long time supporter and friend who inspired the crowd.

Known for her long time support for organized labor, Lori Sutherland, a Cambridgeport resident and Organizer for the Painter's union and Brad Tenney, a long time Cambridge Fire Fighter spoke of Decker's commitment to the working people of Cambridge, including hotel workers and fire fighters. Henry Ngyuen a small business owner in North Cambridge spoke of Decker's tireless efforts to help save his convenience store from the economic hardship caused by Mass Highways closing of the Walden Street bridge.  Mo Barbosa a Pine Street resident spoke of Decker's commitment to being a voice for the most vulnerable amongst us.

Decker drew cheers from the crowd when she spoke about her continued opposition to the Iraq war, and her recent home rule petition at the State legislature to provide Cambridge employees who are deployed to combat duty with continued full salaries, benefits and paid pre-deployment time off prior to serving combat duty. Most recently, Decker has championed the need for continued OB/GYN services at the Windsor Street Clinic while continuing to make opportunities available to the Cambridge Youths so that they develop and expand their understanding of the world to thrive and ensure that Cambridge continues to remain a healthy community to live, work and raise a family.
