Commit Your #1 Vote
WHY YOUR #1 VOTE MATTERS
Never underestimate the power of your #1 vote.
Your # 1 vote IS your vote that counts.
Anyone who thinks their # 1 vote doesn't matter so much need only think back... our city election history proves otherwise!
- Remember Barbara Ackerman for Mayor? Everyone assumed she was fine in the next election, didn't need #1 votes, didn't get them - so she lost.
- Remember when Alice Wolf-top vote getter as a school committee member for 10 years -- Everyone assumed she would win, no need for #1 vote --- so she lost her first bid to city council.
- Remember 1999 Katherine Triantifillou----very popular and came in the top 3? Then she assumed she didn't need #1 votes... Shocked everyone when she lost, too!
SO PLEASE REMEMBER...
Councilor Marjorie Decker needs your #1 vote to be re-elected.
"In the 40 plus years that I have been voting in Cambridge, I twice made the mistake of assuming that the candidate of my choice was guaranteed to be elected. I wanted to be supportive of someone new and gave away my #1 vote. Sadly, in both cases, my own real first choice candidate did not get elected. I will not make that mistake again. It's impossible to second-guess our PR system. There can be only one #1 vote and that #1 must really mean #1...at all costs."
